Every time a computer slows down, most users will immediately think of the RAM memory. The less you have, the slower your computer will work. If upgrading it is not an option, you can still try to use what you have more efficiently. This is precisely what RAM Saver Pro was designed for. Besides monitoring and optimizing your RAM, it offers other tools which will help you make use of this memory with better efficiency.

The setup kit is zipped with other files, like Internet shortcuts, text or XML files, so you should make sure that you extract it in a separate folder if you do not want to mix it up with other files. The setup process is straightforward, so you can install the software in a few seconds. It can run smoothly with any Pentium or equivalent processor and you only need 128 Mb of RAM.

If you are familiar with the Windows Task Manager or other similar tools, you will get used to RAM Saver Pro's interface in no time. Its various functions are organized in separate sections. These can be accessed using the buttons found on the left edge of the interface, with the navigation tabs on the top side or with the options from the Tools menu, so it is safe to say that navigation will not be an issue.

The Monitoring section will display your free and used RAM in a chronology graph (like in Task Manager) and in a pie chart as well. The optimize button can be found on the bottom edge of the window and you only have to click it. You will notice your free memory dropping fast, but it will be restored in a few seconds. This will not only optimize your RAM usage, but it will also free up a bit of it. The same process can be performed in the Optimizer section, where you can also set the size of the buffer which will be used by the algorithm.

RAM Saver Pro also comes with its own benchmarking feature. Before starting it, you may set how much memory to be used and the number of passes by clicking and dragging two sliders. A more interesting feature, which will definitely be useful, is a special shortcuts creator. This requires going through four simple steps, in the Shortcuts section of the interface. After browsing for a program's .exe file, you may specify how much memory the program should clear before running the program. RAM Saver Pro can also be set to close all programs before execution by clicking a check box. Finally, you can choose to place a shortcut on your desktop or in the Startup menu with the options found in a drop menu.

Pros:
The installed software will only take up 2.46 Mb of free disk space. The various tools it provides will help you make better use of your available RAM memory. Switching between these tools and using them is done very easily by clicking a series of simple buttons.

Cons:
There are too many navigation methods than needed. The buttons on the left edge of the interface would have been sufficient.
